The name
An aljibe is a cistern: the chamber under a house that keeps the rain.
From Andalusi Arabic al-ǧubb, the well, by way of Spanish. Across the Yucatán peninsula, where there are no rivers above ground, the aljibe was how a house kept its water through the dry months.
The name says what the company is for. It does not chase flow; it holds what a family has gathered, keeps it sound, and lets it be drawn on when it is needed.
